My mom and I both had our hair done on the Saturday before she left. I was going to cut mine really short, but decided to just get the ends trimmed instead. (Which they realllly needed!) Also, for the first time in years, I added some highlights and lowlights. (Note to my SIL: I kept the curls, but have noticed that they're not so tight and straighten much easier now that they've been color treated. Isn't that weird?) Anyway, my little brother practically cried with joy when he saw me for the first time after, gushing "Oh my gosh, I finally have my young sister back again! Liss, you don't look like an old lady anymore!" Haha! I took that as a compliment. :)
Our weather has been gorgeous the past two days and we're totally taking advantage of it. Yesterday was Darren's Friday off and we spent a lot of time out in the backyard. I'm convinced that people in general (and housewives especially) would be much happier if we could all just live outside. Hello, we'd never need to clean! Dirt would be expected! And with all that glorious sun, who would ever need antidepressants? I know that my mood, at least, was greatly improved after spending the afternoon outdoors. I tucked Austin into a sling and he, too, enjoyed a nice bit of fresh air. I just have to share these two side-by-side photos. The first I scanned from my pre-digital days and is dated, as you can see, March 7, 2004...almost exactly six years ago! I just love my little Dylan and little Caitlyn; aren't they just too precious?! It makes me smile to see how young I looked back then! My hands felt so full with just those two little ones!
And, on the topic of slings, Austin has already outgrown the one I made for him just a few short weeks ago! Now, granted, I think it was a little small to begin with. And, I'm pretty sure it shrunk a little in the wash. (Note to self: next time, pre-wash fabric!!!) But, still, I'm a little sad! I told Darren I'll just consider that one a prototype. :) I'm already looking forward to making a new one, except dang it! I'm out of fabric and I've given up "fun" shopping for lent. And frustratingly, no matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to make fabric into an absolute neccessity. ;)
So, there is obviously so much more I could say right now but I've already been on here way too long. The thing about getting so far behind on blog posts is that it's so hard to catch back up! We've completed weeks R, S, and T on our Alphabet Path and Darren keeps asking when I'm going to post about a multitude of other fun things we've done. Oy, if only there were more hours in a day. ;)

You are so beautiful! The new haircut/color looks fabulous.
But, (hate to sound cheesy, but I mean it) motherhood certainly makes you the most beautiful. You absolutely look glowing with beauty when surrounded by your children.
Love the shot of the five kiddos and you!
I love your hair like that...you look great. I just love highlights. I feel like I can do anything with my hair when I have a good highlight and it will be okay :).
You are totally beautiful! Your hair looks great... and you're looking fresh and young.
Are you sure you're the mama of 5 young kiddos?!
Hope work goes ok tonight.
