Our Lady of Guadalupe

Don't worry! We really did celebrate her feast day yesterday...no mixed up dates for us this year! :) We had fun. I spent most of the morning in the kitchen, making a large pot of posole and, for the first time ever in my life, an enormous batch of biscochitos! I used a recipe I found online, and while they could never compete with my Nana's, I was quite pleased with the results of my efforts! And my girls couldn't get enough of them; every time I turned around they were climbing back up onto the counter to sneak a few more! (Dylan tried a few, but wasn't nearly as enthusiastic as his sisters.)

We read The Lady of Guadalupe, and while Meghan was napping, Dylan and Caitlyn made these super cute paper bag tilmas. What a fun and easy project! I'm so glad I came across it a few nights ago while looking for craft ideas. What I loved most about it was that they were able to do almost everything themselves. (All I did was cut out the sides and holes from the sacks.) I know that they were very proud of their tilmas, and I was, too. I especially love the painted on roses they decided to add. :)

Today is going to be a lazy day. Yesterday was pretty exhausting, so, although I am inspired every year by the loveliness of Saint Lucy's Day, I'm just not feeling quite up to the task of such creativity today! Which, of course, plagues me with guilt, so I have to realllly remind myself that it's not how much we do, but how much we love what we do that counts. There are so many beautiful occasions to celebrate at this time of year, but I know that if I were to try to do it all, I would only end up over tired and cranky! And that is so not what I want for myself or my family. So I think what's in order for today is a break from the housework, plenty of snuggling, lots of reading, and a nice, long, after lunch nap for all of us. I have to work tonight...all night. I really need the rest!
A happy feast day to you, friends!

I just love seeing what you guys are up to. You do such cute crafts and bake such tasty things! Your kids will definately have wonderful memories of all the feast days...and of their childhood in general!
I remember last year's post for some reason. I thought it was so cute...and I was going to make the star and moon cookies that you made last December 11th! (However, we didn't make it to the store...so, today I am making some St. Lucia bread that Karen posted a recipe for. We'll see how that turns out!)
Thinking of you and Baby often!! OH, I meant to ask- do you have a hunch about the gender this time? Like you, I was off on my twin boys which I was sure were my twin girls- Teresa and Claire! ;) I only had 18 weeks to guess, though, and I was glad to have another 19 weeks to adjust to the idea of having two BOYS!!
